Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques approves naming Project of International Center for Conferences in Madinah as King Salman International Center for Conferences
Riyadh, Ramadan 18, 1436, July 05, 2015, SPA -- The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has approved naming the Project of International Center for Conference being built by the Ministry of Finance in Madinah as King Salman International Center for Conferences.
This was announced by Minister of Finance Dr. Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf who explained that the project was designed according to the latest advanced engineering specifications and standards to accommodate the most important Islamic conferences and major events to be held in the region, noting that the project is being built on an area of 91,000 square meters, including a great hall that can accommodate up to 2,500 people and multi-purpose halls for 1550 people, and it will be completed before the next holy month of Ramadan.

Indonesia's Mount Raung renews mild eruptions
Jakarta, Ramadan 18, 1436, July 05, 2015, SPA -- Indonesia's Mount Raung in East Java province
continued to erupt, emitting grayish plumes up to four kilometers
high, an official said Sunday, according to dpa.

Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for the National Disaster
Mitigation Agency, said the volcano generated a steady but moderate
rumble.

Mount Raung's status has been upgraded from alert to standby and
areas within three kilometers of its crater have been vacated. The
volcano is located on the border of East Java's Banyuwangi, Bondowoso
and Jember districts.

At least 12 international flights by JetStar and Virgin Australia
connecting Australia and Indonesian resort island of Bali were
cancelled Saturday due to Mount Raung's increased volcanic activity,
according to Indonesian news website jpnn.com.

Weapons factory blast in Montenegro kills 1 person
PODGORICA, Montenegro, Ramadan 18, 1436, July 05, 2015, SPA -- Police say an explosion at a weapons factory in central Montenegro has killed one person and injured several others.
In a statement, police said the blast happened early Sunday at the Tara Group factory in the town of Mojkovac, 70 kilometers (42 miles) northeast of the capital, Podgorica. They gave no other details. The factory produces guns, rifles and parts for missile systems.

Deadly strikes by US-led coalition targeting ISIS in Syria
BEIRUT, Ramadan 18, 1436, July 05, 2015, SPA -- A series of U.S.-led coalition airstrikes targeting the ISIS group's stronghold of Raqqa in eastern Syria has killed at least 10 militants and wounded many others, AP reported.

In a statement issued early Sunday, the coalition said it had conducted 16 airstrikes throughout Raqqa, destroying vital ISIS-controlled structures and transit routes in Syria.

Oman Securities Market Index Rises 81 Points in H1 of 2015
Muscat, Ramadan 18, 1436, July 05, 2015, SPA -- The main index of Muscat Securities Market (MSM) rose 81 points in the first half of 2015 despite the wave of declines it witnessed in several weeks, coupled with poor market-oriented liquidity, regional and international financial and political crisis.

The index closed at the end of June trading at 6424 points, an increase of 2.1 percent.
However, the volume of trading fell by 85 percent to RO 707.3 million compared to about RO 1.3 billion in the corresponding period last year.

Kuwait Stock Exchange ends Sunday's session on mixed board
KUWAIT, Ramadan 18, 1436, July 05, 2015, SPA -- Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) ended Sunday's session on mixed board as the weighted index shed 1.33 points reaching 417.59 points, while the price index gained 8.5 points reaching 6,190.39 points, whereas the KSX 15 went down by 6.07 points to stand at 1,011.99 points.
Number of trades was 1,569 with a value of KD 6,929,311.183 and a volume of 63,292,282.

Storm causes floods, knocks out power in north Philippines
MANILA, Philippines, Ramadan 18, 1436, Jul 5, 2015, SPA -- A tropical storm blowing across the Philippines' mountainous north has caused floods and knocked out power in several towns, AP reported.
Officials said there were no immediate reports of casualties Sunday from Tropical Storm Linfa. They said government rescue teams were deployed to evacuate villagers in some of the 11 towns flooded in La Union province, where wide areas also lost power.
The storm had sustained winds of 85 kilometers (53 miles) per hour and gusts of 100 kph (62 mph).

Riyadh, Ramadan 18, 1436 AH, July 5, 2015, SPA -- Prince Saud Bin Abdul Mohsen Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Hail region, said that the decision of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on the registration of rock drawings in Hail region within the World Heritage List, is an achievement that reflects the depth of the civilization of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, being replete with enormous treasures of the national heritage, which is a testament to succession of civilizations on the Arabian Peninsula.
The Prince confirmed that this international recognition is the culmination the efforts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, represented in his keenness and care for everything related to the National Heritage of the Kingdom, and the need to highlight it for today's generation and maintain it for the future generations.

Two dead, six hurt in Philippine chopper crash
Manila, Ramadan 18, 1436, Jul 5, 2015, SPA -- Two people were killed and six injured Sunday when a
private helicopter crashed in the Philippines, dpa cited officials as saying.

The chopper went down in a forested area in a village in Cuenca in
Batangas province, 77 kilometres south of Manila, said provincial
government spokesman Jing Seguismundo.

The pilot and one of the passengers were killed in the crash, while
six other passengers were injured, she added.

Authorities were still determining the cause of the crash,
Seguismundo said.

5 dead, 50 injured in tram accident at Thai zoo
Bangkok, Ramadan 18, 1436, July 05, 2015, SPA -- A two-car tram overturned in Thailand's Khon
Kaen Zoo, killing five on board and injuring more than 50, local
police confirmed Sunday, according to dpa.

A 2-year-old girl was crushed and died at the scene. Four more died
en route to the hospital.

Photos from the scene show the first car skidded off the road
and turned sideways.

A preliminary investigation by the police found that the accelerator
was stuck and the driver lost control of the vehicle while going
downhill.
