Riyadh, November 24, SPA -- The Ministry of Justice issued a new explanatory statement on what has been reported by some media regarding Qatif Girl.
Following is the full text of the explanatory statement:
"Based on what has recently circulated in some media on the issue which has is by now known as (Qatif Girl) as well as what has been exchanged by some media representatives on how the woman relates to the case, and why she was sentenced and what are the charges against her,
"Due to the importance of clarifying the facts of the confessions of the defendants, including the concerned women as well as the importance of stating Shari’a (Islamic law) violations that necessitate punishment in addition to correcting the reports of some media with regard to the woman so that everyone knows the facts, we issue the following details:
"First: the accused young woman in the case is a married woman. She admitted having an illegal affair with the person who was arrested with her. She also admitted that she went out with him without legal companion and shared illegal affairs which are religiously prohibited in addition to being with him alone which also a prohibited action by Islam.
