The Chinese ambassador considered relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and China as a model one that should be pursued in forging stronger relations between China and Arab countries, indicating that strategic and friendly relations between Riyadh and Beijing have witnessed a rapid growth over 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
As for trade relations between the two countries, the Chinese Ambassador said that the Kingdom is the biggest trading partner of China in Western Asia and Africa.
He disclosed that the volume of trade exchange between China and Saudi Arabia amounted to $ 32.6 billion in 2009, and the volume of bilateral trade in the first five months of this year amounted to $16.32 billion, an increase of 59.5 % from the same period last year. 'Moreover, China imported from the Kingdom 41.95 million tons of crude oil in 2009, and it is expected that the volume of imported crude oil from the Kingdom will reach 50 million tons by the end of this year.'
