Aden, 23 Jumada II,1438 AH, 22 March,2017 , SPA -- The air defense system participating in the coalition forces to support the legitimacy in Yemen has recorded a great success in downing all ballistic missiles that Houthi militias and Saleh's forces deliberately targeted the cities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and succeeded in protecting several liberated Yemeni cities from these missiles.
Houthi militias have fired dozens of rockets at populated areas in a number of cities in the Kingdom on the border, such as : Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Dhahran Al-Janoub, Najran, Taif, and Makkah, but all these missiles have been downed before reaching their targeted goals, and without causing any human casualties or material damages.
Inside Yemen, the militias have continuously bombed Marib and Taiz provinces with ballistic missiles, the two provinces that have witnessed violent resistance to the putschists, but the fate of these missiles has always been the destruction before reaching their targeted goals.
A United Nations' report earlier confirmed that Houthi militias and ousted Saleh's forces have been active since June 16, 2015, in the use of a missile campaign to target the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the coalition's air defense forces have been successful in monitoring and destroying cross-border missiles from Yemen.
The report officially announced said, "Due to the inaccuracy of these missiles which do not distinguish between military and civilian goals, their use is a violation of the international human law."
The air defense system complements the role of air forces in carrying out their tasks in the battlefields as the acquisition of an advanced air defense force is considered one of the greatest factors for strengthening air control.
The Patriot missile system, the latest and modernist in the world, forms a powerful defense system against long-range missiles and warplanes, operates on sophisticated batteries, includes complex computer systems, and operates by thermal systems to bring down its targets.
The good qualification and intensive training of the officers and personnel of the air defense forces on the use of this system working under the umbrella of the Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy in Yemen have contributed to upgrading the performance efficiency significantly and protecting the cities and villages of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and liberated Yemeni cities from Houthi missiles.
