Istanbul, Rabi'I 25, 1439 H., December 13, 2017, SPA -- Kings and heads of states and governments of the OIC member states rejected and condemned the statement of the United States of America's Administration on the status of Al-Quds Al-Sharif, declaring that this statement is null and void in terms of conscience, justice and history like Israel's decision to annex Al-Quds, its measures and procedures there, which have never been and will not be acceptable.
This came at the conclusion of their Extraordinary Islamic Summit held earlier today in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey.
The Istanbul Declaration called on all members of the United Nations, the European Union and the international community to remain committed to the status of Al-Quds and all relevant United Nations resolutions, stressing that the aspiration to establish an independent and sovereign State of Palestine on the basis of the 1967 borders with East Al-Quds as its capital won't be conceded as it is a prerequisite for peace and security in the region.
The participants declared their determination to cooperate and coordinate in order to support the cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif at international forums, especially the United Nations, and to mobilize support in the name of all humanity to strengthen the State of Palestine and its institutions in all fields.
The Summit called upon all States that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine, which was proclaimed in 1988 in Algeria as the embodiment of the desire of the Palestinian people to live a free life, to take such a decisive step since today's recognition of the State of Palestine is a prerequisite for achieving balance, common sense and logic in the region in the wake of recent developments.
