Command of Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen: Interception, downing in Yemeni airspace of enemy drone launched by Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia from Sanaa

Riyadh, September 09, 2019, SPA -- Colonel Turki Al-Maliki, the spokesman of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, said that on Monday evening, the coalition joint forces managed to intercept and shoot down an enemy drone in the airspace of the Republic of Yemen over Saada province. The drone was launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia from Sana'a towards the Kingdom, he said.
Colonel Al-Maliki explained that the coalition takes all operational procedures and best practices of engagement rules to deal with these drones to protect civilians and civilian objects from these hostile and terrorist acts and these miserable and desperate attempts that are in clear violation of international humanitarian law and its customary rules.
He noted that the repeated terrorist attempts reflect desperation of the terrorist militia and losses in their terrorist elements and equipment and emphasizes the criminality of Iran's agents in the region and threatening of regional and international security.
He stressed the coalition joint forces command's continued implementation of deterrent measures against this terrorist militia to neutralize and destroy these capabilities strictly and in accordance with international humanitarian law and customary rules.
