KAAEC for Atomic and Renewable Energy signed an agreement to establish and operate a joint research and development center with KAIRI

Vienna, Sep. 17, 2019, SPA -- Riyadh-based King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KAAEC) signed here today an agreement to establish and operate a joint research and development center with the Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAIRI).
The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) by the President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sultan, and the President of the Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute Won Seok Park, in the presence of Prince Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan, Ambasaador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Austria, who serves also as his country's permanent representative to the international organizations.
The agreement aims to define the framework necessary for the establishment and operation of a joint research and development center to promote and support continued cooperation between the two parties in the field of peaceful nuclear research and development, as well as the preparation and rehabilitation of national cadres necessary.
The energy sector is one of the most important strategic sectors in the Kingdom, which is witnessing rapid growth, while the sources of atomic and renewable energy are the sources that the Kingdom intends to include in the national energy mix, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince.
