COVID-19 Follow-up Committee Holds 83rd Meeting

Riyadh, May 12, 2020, SPA -- Under the chairmanship of Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, the COVID-19 Follow-up Committee held its 83rd meeting today.
During the meeting, all relevant COVID-19 updates and reports were reviewed. The committee discussed the epidemiological situation globally, as well as the cases reported locally. All precautionary measures carried out at the points of entry into the Kingdom will continue in full and will be further enhanced, the committee stressed. The Committee praised the citizens and expatriates for abiding by the curfew, urging all to stay at home.
Following the meeting, Assistant Minister of Health and Official Spokesman of the Ministry of Health Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdulaali said that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide is 4,200,000 cases, out of which 1,400,000 cases have been cured to date. The COVID-19 death toll has jumped to 286,000.
Dr. Al-Abdulaali said that 1911 new COVID-19 cases were reported today in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, adding that the new cases were reported in Riyadh (443), Makkah (407), Jeddah (306), Madinah (176), Hofuf (91), Dammam (78), Khobar (74), Al-Majmaah (57), Hadda (42), Jubail (33), Tabuk (27), Dhahran (18), Qarah (18), Hazem Aljalamid (18), Qatif (17), Baish (17), Taif (16), Hail (16), Kharj (10), Najran (5), Khamis Mushait (4), Wadi Aldwasir (4), Safwa (3), Hottat bni Tamim (3), Delm (3), Diriyah (3), Mahayel Asir (2), Bishah (2), Hafar Albatin (2), Qunfidhah (2), Layla (2), Buqayq (1), Buraidah (1), Uglat Asugour (1), Sabt Alalayah (1), Rabigh (1), Muzaylif (1), Namira (1), Sakaka (1), Qurayyat (1), Thadiq (1), Shaqra (1) and Huraymla (1).
He pointed out that the total cases tested positive for COVID-19 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reached 42,925 cases, out of which 27,404 cases are active cases receiving medical care, and their health condition is mostly stable; with the exception of 147 cases receiving intensive care. The number of new recoveries is 2520, bringing the total recoveries to 15,257 cases. The number of new deaths is 9, bringing the total deaths to 264 cases.
