Saudi Press: Virtual Donors' Conference for Yemen 2020 to Kick off today, in Partnership with UN

Riyadh, June 02, 2020, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional, and international arenas.
Al-Riyadh and Al-Yaum newspapers reported in their editorials that, upon the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will organize the Virtual Donors' Conference for Yemen 2020, in partnership with the United Nations.
The papers added that the holding of such international conference comes in the light of the difficult humanitarian conditions in Yemen due to the terrorist of the coup of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia and the outbreak of Coronavirus global pandemic. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia pledges to provide an amount of $ 500 million as a contribution to UN Humanitarian Response Plan for Yemen.
The papers concluded that the conference aims to increase awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and to announce financial pledges to meet basic needs in Yemen to come in line with great efforts being exerted by Saudi Arabia towards Yemen.
Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper said in its editorial that the Saudi Public Investment Fund achieves qualitative leaps as ranked ninth position globally. The paper said that this achievement thanks to the investment strategy which is based on more advanced foundations and most importantly less risks.
The paper said that, in less than five years, the Saudi Fund investment amounted to $360 billion, which will strengthen the direction of the strategic plans and programs of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
