OIC expresses concern over pre-election violence in Côte d’Ivoire

Jeddah, October 28, 2020, SPA -- The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is closely following developments in Côte d’Ivoire ahead of the presidential election scheduled for 31 October 2020.
The General Secretariat is concerned about violent events reported in Côte d’Ivoire over the past few days, which led to the death of several people in Bonoua and Dabou. It extends its condolences to the bereaved families and wishes the wounded prompt recovery.
The OIC General Secretariat urges all stakeholders to engage in dialogue to resolve their differences and to create an environment conducive to a peaceful election.
For his part, the Secretary-General Dr. Youssef Al-Othaimeen reiterates the strong support of the OIC to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire in this critical moment.
