Chairman of Standing Committee for Arab Media Stresses Importance of Integrating Efforts of Arab Media System in Serving its Causes

Cairo, June 13, 2021, SPA -- Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information for International Media Relations and Chairman of the Standing Committee for Arab Media Dr. Khaled bin Abdulqadir Al-Ghamdi stressed that the media and communication means have a great challenge alongside the health sectors, due to the changes happened during the Coronavirus pandemic. He added that the media has a pivotal role in confronting the outbreak of epidemics and minimizing their effects on the societies by monitoring the crisis and its developments, providing accurate information to the public, and raising awareness of the necessity to adhere to applying the precautionary and preventive measures.
In his opening speech at the works of the 95th session of the Standing Committee for Arab Media, which was held here today with the participation of the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Information, Heads of Arab Media Agencies, and Assistant Secretary General and Supervisor of the Media and Communication Sector at the Arab League Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Dr. Khaled Al-Ghamdi said that the Coronavirus pandemic has proven that the impact of exposure to rumors and misinformation can be more dangerous than the repercussions of the pandemic itself.
At the conclusion of his speech, Dr. Khaled Al-Ghamdi expressed his hope that this committee would achieve its goals and accomplish its work in a way that serves the joint Arab media work.
