Kingdom Coasts Enhance Biodiversity with Planting 14 Million Mangrove Trees by Yearend

Jeddah, July 28, 2021, SPA – National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification has celebrated the 2021 International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem which is annually marked on July 26 with announcing it success in planting more than 14 million mangrove trees across the Red Sea and Arabia Gulf coasts.
The center stressed that mangrove forests receive interest and priority as part of projects implemented by the center and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, for their importance in enhancing the ecosystem of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s coastal areas. The center also referred to its success till the end of the year in planting 14.6 million mangrove trees on the coasts of the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf as part of several projects to plant and forest coastal environments in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the aim of developing the vegetation cover and realizing environment sustainability.
