Kabul, Safar 11, 1438, Nov 11, 2016, SPA -- German soldiers shot and killed two civilians as Taliban attacked the German consulate in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif early Friday morning, an official said.
According to dpa, two men riding a motorcycle came to an area blocked by German forces and refused to follow the directions and warnings of the soldiers to stop, said Munir Farhad, spokesman for the provincial governor.
"Finally German soldiers shot and killed both of them," he said.
Altogether 6 civilians were killed in the assault on the German consulate, among them the two motorcyclists, Farhad said. One attacker also died and another was arrested.
