Jeddah, Dhu-Al-Qa'dah 18, 1438 H., August 10, 2017, SPA -- The Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has issued its decisions on the complaint submitted by the State of Qatar against the Quartet who call for combating terrorism.
In a statement, the ICAO council noted that it has been informed of the contents of the Qatari complaint as well as the response of the Quartet and listened to the Secretariat General report regarding the flow of movement over the international waters.
Accordingly, the council acknowledged the existence of political issues that ought to be tackled by the concerned countries at the appropriate international platform, rather than in the ICAO.
Commenting on the ICAO decisions, Eng. Abdulhakeem bin Mohammed Al-Tamimi, Chief of the Saudi Civil Aviation authority, said the decisions confirm the neutrality of the organization and its sticking to its constitutional role of preserving the safety of civil aviation all over the world.
Al-Tamimi praised the refrainment of the ICAO and its council from being driven in political disputes, as members of the organization asserted that such discussions should be raised at specialized platforms, citing that the chief of the ICAO pointed that New York is only one hour far from Montreal, a sign to the headquarters of the United Nations.
