In Implementation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Vision... MoU Signed Between GCC General Secretariat, Sultan Qaboos University

Riyadh, December 4, 2022, SPA -- Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf has emphasised on the role of GCC universities in strengthening the course of the Cooperation Council and providing it with knowledge, research and studies, in order to complete the implementation of the provisions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ vision, which was approved by the Supreme Council in its 36th session in 2015.
The Secretary General recalled what was stipulated in the eighth clause of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ vision on assigning universities and research centres in the GCC countries to allocate academic programmes to study and develop the integrative experience of the GCC countries, as part of the belief in the role of universities and research centres in studying the GCC integrative experience.
This came during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the GCC General Secretariat and Sultan Qaboos University today, with the participation of President of the University Sayyid Dr Fahad bin Al Julanda bin Majid Al Said at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh.
During the signing ceremony, the Secretary General affirmed that the memorandum comes within the efforts of the General Secretariat to encourage and support partnerships and scientific research between GCC educational institutions, based on the key objectives of the Cooperation Council and in implementation of the decisions of the Leaders of the GCC countries.
The MoU aims to enhance the exchange of expertise, studies and scientific research that will contribute to the work of the joint GCC committees held by the General Secretariat, and lead to holding seminars, conferences and joint training programmes to develop scientific cadres in educational institutions in the GCC countries.
The signing of the memorandum was attended by Assistant Secretary for Economic and Development Affairs Khalifa bin Saeed Al Abri, Assistant Secretary for Legislative and Legal Affairs at the GCC General Secretariat Counsell Ambassador of the Sultanat to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sayyid Faisal bin Turki Al Said, and members of the Sultan Qaboos University delegation.
